Acquiring Storage Units For Collectible Items

Need To Move Out Early? Know How To Handle Your Belongings

Have you found yourself in a situation where you must move from your current home before you're able to move into your next home? This causes the dilemma of what you should do with all your belongings when you are between homes. You are not completely out of luck, since there are a few options available to you.

Storage Pods

A new trend in moving that you should consider is a storage pod. These pods are delivered directly to your home so that you can pack them on your free time. When the pod is full, the company will pick them up and bring them to their local storage facility until you request it again. They'll also handle the delivery of the pod while you handle the unpacking.

These can be a great option if you do not know how long you are going to be between homes, since the do provide some flexibility with packing. However, you may not be up for leaving belongings outside in a storage pod until they can be picked up.

Self Storage Units

Another option is to use a self storage facility to keep your belongings. You can have professional movers pack your belongings in a moving truck like normal, but have them deliver everything to a nearby storage unit instead of to another home. When you're ready to move into your new place, schedule a second move that starts at the storage unit and ends at your home.

This option is popular because many storage units offer climate controls, so you know your belongings will be protected no matter how long they are in storage. Storage units also offer more security, so you know everything will be safe.

Extended Rental Moving Trucks

Are you going to be between homes for a day or two? If so, the best solution may be to use a moving truck for an extended rental period. You can have the truck packed with all your belongings, lock up the back door, and keep the tuck until you can move into your new place.

This technique saves you money since you do not need to pay to have your belongings moved twice, but it does come with its own risks. Keeping belongings in the back of a moving truck is probably the least secure place you can keep them. If someone breaks into the truck or steals it, they could potentially take an entire home's worth of contents with them.
