Using A Self-Storage Unit To Plan Your DIY Wedding

Planning a DIY wedding can make your big day even more special. From creating your own favors and centerpieces to choosing the perfect party rentals, there's a lot that goes into planning the event. A self-storage unit can be a big help when it comes to making sure everything comes together. Here are a few ways you can use a self-storage unit to plan your DIY wedding.

Crafting Workshop

If you are planning to make your own flavors, floral arrangements, and centerpieces, consider using your self-storage unit as your crafting workshop. This keeps the mess and clutter out of your home while also giving you plenty of room to tackle all of your projects. Use a large folding table in the center of the room to do all of the crafting, and keep a shelving unit behind the table to store your finished products.

When you head to your local craft supply store for materials, check out the storage container department. You may find plastic bins you can use to store your supplies as well as the finished items for the wedding. Be sure to label each container so you know what's stored inside. If you'll be using a sewing machine or hot glue gun, check to make sure your storage unit has electrical outlets available.

Party Rental Storage

In the days leading up to the wedding, you'll probably be spending some time gathering party supply rentals, such a s tables, chairs, or tablecloths. Instead of storing these items in your garage or picking them up on the day of the wedding, consider staging them in the storage unit instead. This gives you a space to organize the items and label them as needed. For example, you may have separate chairs for the ceremony and reception. Organize each set of chairs in separate areas in the unit, and label them to indicate where they will be placed inside of your wedding venue.

Mock Table Setups

As you plan your reception, you'll want to make sure that your tables look just the way you want. Consider creating a mock reception area in the storage unit with a couple of tables and chairs. Play with different place settings and centerpiece arrangements, and take pictures of each one. Once you have the perfect setup, you can use the pictures as a frame of reference when you set up the actual venue. The images can be given to the venue's staff so they can set everything up while you get ready for your big day.

After the wedding is over, you can use the storage space to hold your wedding gifts until you get back from your honeymoon. It can also be used for storing your new spouse's furniture as you combine households and begin your life together.
